Beautiful Original 1930s Home in Outer Parkside

Saw a beautiful 1936 home in the Outer Parkside today in original condition. Listing:

Here's the house on the outside, and in context of the street, which looks down on Stern Grove (really adds to the curb appeal):

Once inside, a look at the living room, dining room, and good sized center patio- nice moulding throughout, and beautiful original lighting:

The stunning original kitchen, with original cabinets, pinwheel tiling, and linoleum flooring:

Bathroom also looks like original:

One of the back bedrooms:

The backyard has a gardening shed that sticks out, and an odd concrete pond (for fish?):

Finally, the downstairs is mostly unfinished, except for what looks like an unwarranted bedroom:

Upgraded Home in Ingleside Heights

With San Francisco real estate prices as high as they are, it is rare to find a nice home listed for under $700,000. The one I saw today is listed for $699,000, but it is in Ingleside Heights, just north of the Daly City border, and closer to Daly City BART station than any other San Francisco landmark. It's also clear that this house needs major maintenance. But the bones are great, it certainly looks like when the house was built in 1930, the interior received all the "upgrades".

The listing can be seen at: https://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Francisco/70-Vernon-St-94132/home/1599685. And for an extra $300,000, you can have the lot next door too! I hope someone doesn't come in and buy these two properties and then tears this beautiful house down to build a brand new big house.

From the exterior it does not look like that nice:

But you can tell from the diamond patterned floors that this is nice on the inside (even if everything is in rough shape).

Views of the very nice looking fireplace in the living room and the dining room (with very nice molding):

Original kitchen:

Bedroom also has nice moldings:

Beautifully original tiled bathroom:

The house comes with an extra sun room that extends from one of the two bedrooms in the back, which was a real nice bonus feature back in the day. Unfortunately, since the backyard is already small, the sunroom does crimp it a bit:

Finally, the garage level is wide open and empty, ready for remodeling:

Beautiful Spanish Mediterranean Home Out In the Avenues

Last weekend, I went to a nice open house for a 1936 Spanish Mediterranean home out on the Avenues, a nice one:
https://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Francisco/1650-31st-Ave-94122/home/1052246

The whole block has elegant little Sunset style homes but this one is pretty nice too with huge front window:

The steps up are very welcoming, and there is a lovely entry with diamond patterned hardwood floors:

The brochure for the house shows off an airy living room with wood beams on the ceiling, leading up to the stately dining room:

Lovely original tiling in the bathroom:

The kitchen has had its countertop and floor changed out, but everything else looks original and in good shape:

There are rooms in the downstairs, including a sink area with nice view of the backyard:

Finally, there is a cool old garage office downstairs, where the original electrical permit for the house is framed:
